I raise registered Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats and use their rich creamy milk to produce my goat milk soap. Nigerian Dwarf Goats are well known for the high butterfat content of their milk which I think helps to make a nice soap.
My soap is made with no added water, extra chemicals, or preservatives. I soap using the cold process method.
Lye is needed to make soap. Without lye there would not be soap. The lye combines with everything else needed in the soap making process and in the end you have a luxurious natural soap. This process is called saponification. You can feel safe using properly formulated home made soap. This is not the harsh lye soap of days gone by!
I take great pride in my goats and my soap making. My goats really are my pride and joy!! I love that I am able to use the milk produced right on my own land from goats that I know are healthy and happy and live a spoiled life. I also like researching different soap ingredients and creating different soap formulas to try. Everything that I put into my soap has a purpose.
I enjoy using my soaps. I know what is in them and I can pronounce everything that I put into them. I also love how my skin feels now that I have been using my soaps for awhile instead of store bought "soaps". Most "soap" bought in a store is actually a detergent. Deteregents can be harsh to our delicate skin. Hand made cold process method soaps retain their naturally produced glycerin. In commercial soaps this glycerin is removed and used for other things instead of leaving it there to do its job, which is to benefit your skin.
I think it is a great honor to be able to offer my soap to others. The soap making process is a creative outlet for me. I am constantly thinking of new ideas to try. I will be adding new scents, colors, and shapes of soap in the future. I will also be adding liquid soap, body butters, salt bars, facial products, and hopefully lotion in the future.
